Lumi Gets Ready for the Holidays:

Holiday Hair

I don’t know about you ,but for Lumi, getting ready for the holidays means getting ready to look fabulous or at least feeling fabulous, which is way better than just looking fabulous! Why? Because everyone in the family is around, or your all alone and need a pick me up, and/or you want to be ready for the bazillions of pictures people are going to take! Now, rather than run and hide when those holiday cameras start clicking and rolling why not be totally ready? It is true, getting ready COULD unintentionally become an obsessive un-fun girl self-hatred fest but that is so NOT what Lumi is talking about! There are fun and fabulous ways to get your whole-self ready for the holidays and those holiday pics! Not to mention, “getting ready for the holidays”, is an excellent excuse to say, lay around in facial mask doing your nails WITHOUT your friends and family calling you a lazy diva! With this in mind, as a mission, your Auntie Lumination, has searched around for nice long ways to relax and rejuvenate for our best-look come Christmas! It seemed like the top of the head -our hair- would be a good place to start! And as luck would have it, Lumi’s Momma came through with a budget-friendly, fun new way to get that lovely shiny deep-conditioned look that we all long to wear! What way you say? With a bottle of Suave and a plastic grocery bag! Check out this girl’s video that inspired this holiday hair extravaganza!

Isn’t she amazing? And yesssss, Lumi saw where she said that you could wear the conditioner and bag on your head to bed…overnight…while you are sleeping but Lumi was VERY afraid that would end in death! The Aunties don’t recommend anyone sleeping with a plastic bag on their head BUHHHT the idea of leaving your regular conditioner on your head for eight hours, while awake ,and relaxing, and amusing yourself with people’s responses to your bag head? Well, that sounds like just the kind of holiday preparation this auntie was looking for!!

Step One:

Shampoo and Conditioner Hair Regularly

I did it in the sink so I(“I” loosely translating to “my son” in this context”) could take pictures and not mess up my makeup! If you’re not doing a blog where you are supposed to look relaxed but cute – take a regular shower and towel dry your hair as the video girl“CHICKpearl”prescribes…

Step Two:

I took a about 1/2 cup of conditioner and slathered it through my hair (and yes those are for real zits on my forehead there – gahh hormones do not break for the blog schedule!)

Step Three:

Put Wal-mart bag over hair and tie in the back like an uhmmm bandanna! I fastened mine with a pony tail holder! (Editor’s Note : This is also how Auntie Wicked traps the heat in when she dye’s her hair! She swears by it!)

Step Four:

Chillax and enjoy the crock-pot like sensation of your hair being deep conditioned for hours! Remember like eight hours! I will be back to tell you how it went then! This is a good time to paint your nails, make cookies, take a bath, watch Love Actually and in general have a low rent spa day!

Results:

The bag on the head does not make for good fashion but it makes for fun and silliness with all you live with(I actually got to answer the door in mine!). You can give yourself baggy pig-tails and the conditioner on your hair underneath the bag stays warm! Also, let me tell you auntlings, those squishy locks in a bag are so fun to push around! I actually did fall asleep for a nap while I had the bag on and didn’t die, which was really great!

After not dying at nap, I took my shower to rinse out the conditioner and WOW was it shiny and soft!

My hair feels 75% softer and looks 100% shinier since the bag treatment! Here it is after drying off, Lumi hasn’t seen her hair sparkle like that since like 1992!

In fact, Lumi finally feels so ready for the next most important phase of holiday readiness: FESTIVE OUTFITS!
